Geo-caching: No Luck this time
Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunting game in which the participants use a Global Possitioning System receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called “geocaches” or “caches”) anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and “treasure”, usually toys or trinkets of little monetary value.
For Christmas I purchased Travis a handheld GPS unit to try our hand in Geo Caching. So after selecting a cache from www.geocaching.com we headed out to find it. Things looked good as we closed in on the coordinates, until we hit about 200 feet. According to our measurements the cache was in the swamp! After some off trail searching and re-tracking our steps we finally gave up. Disappointed that we could not find our first attempt at the game, we will certainly try again. It definitely adds a new element to our hikes and hopefully we will have better luck next time. Below are some pictures from our outing.

Catie’s Photography Photo Blog
I admit that Catie’s Daily has never really been daily (I had best intentions when naming it) and sadly it has slowly morphed from weekly to bi-weekly to lately not much at all. I am planning to write more soon, but in the meantime… check out my other spot on the web. A blog dedicated just to my photography:
